Banyana top Group C, Nigeria continue ‘Mission X’ bid

All eyes were on the likes of South Africa and Nigeria during matchday three at the 2025 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations this week as Banyana Banyana and the Super Falcons look ahead to the knockout phase of the tournament.
Nigeria completed their third fixture in Group B with a 0-0 draw against Algeria at Stade Larbi Zaouli on Sunday. The Super Falcons dominated the encounter but were left frustrated at not being able to break the deadlock while Algeria recorded just one shot at goal across 90 minutes.
Nevertheless, both Nigeria and Algeria advanced to the next round of the competition with Botswana and Tunisia falling short.
Elsewhere, host nation Morocco likewise made it to the knockout phase after their 1-0 win against Senegal in Group A at the Olympic Stadium Rabat on Saturday. Zambia joined Morocco in the quarter-finals as their 1-0 win against DR Congo on Saturday saw them finish second in Group A.
In Group C, South Africa claimed a powerful 4-0 win against Mali in their matchday three tie at the Honneur Stadium on Monday night.
Banyana Banyana ran riot in Oujda, as Lebohang Ramalepe, Refiloe Jane, Hildah Magaia and Ronnel Donnelly got their names on the scoreboard before the final whistle was blown.
