Kenya’s senior women’s national football team midfielder Mwanalima Adam Jereko has joined Danish side, HB Køge Women, on loan.

The player’s parent club, Kansas City Current FC, confirmed her exit of the player who signed for the American team in August 2024.

The Kenyan has since reacted to her move to the new employers who will participate in next year’s Uefa Women’s Europa Cup.

“I was incredibly excited when I heard that I am going to face a new challenge with the Danish team HB Køge,” Jereko told Current’s media.

“It was my dream to play at this level so that I interact with different peoples and show my teammates the ability I have. I promise to show my skills and I am eager to contribute success and create history together. I am looking forward to working with the team because teamwork and collaboration enable us to achieve remarkable outcomes.”

Køge sporting director Walid Khoury, HB Køge welcomed the new addition, saying she stands to add value to the team ahead of the Danish season’s kick off next month.

“She brings not just skill but invaluable experience at a high level and we expect her to make an immediate impact. Her leadership and football IQ will be hugely beneficial to our team’s dynamics from day one,” Khoury told Current’s media.

Jereko traces her professional football career to Mombasa Olympic, a team she played for before switching to Thika Queens FC in 2018. She emerged as the Kenyan Women's Premier League leading scorer that year as Queens finished undefeated in the league.

Jereko embarked on her adventure abroad in 2021 after signing for Hakkarigücü Spor in the Turkish Super League where she netted 11 goals in 17 outings.

The Kenyan eventually made her way to Current in 2024 when she instantly contributed to the 2024 NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup victory.
