The final round of the National Extreme Festival takes place on Saturday, 25 October at Zwartkops Raceway in Pretoria.

Having sealed the 2025 GR Cup Media Challenge title in Cape Town, SuperSport’s Nabil Abdool heads to Zwartkops Raceway aiming to complete his championship campaign.

After a debut season that exceeded expectations, the SuperSport-backed GR Yaris has already earned its place in the paddock’s history books. As the championship concludes, it’s a chance to celebrate the journey and the people who made it possible.

“Zwartkops marked a turning point for me and the new GR Yaris,” Abdool reflects. “It was when everything clicked, and I was able to really extract the best from the car - and from myself. To return here as champion is an honour. This final race is about gratitude, to Toyota South Africa, Toyota Gazoo Racing, SuperSport, Dunlop Tyres, and every partner who believed in the dream.”

WARM CONDITIONS AND HEATED BATTLES AHEAD

The fight for the runner-up spot remains wide open, with CAR Magazine’s Kyle Kock holding a slender four-point lead over TimesLIVE’s Phuti Mpyane. Both will need to keep an eye on AutoTrader’s Lawrence Minnie, who qualified third and stood on the podium the last time the GR Cup visited Zwartkops. With silverware on the line, nothing left to lose, and no shortage of motivation, expect every driver to come out swinging in this final showdown.

Temperatures are expected to soar into the high 20s, so drivers will need to manage their tyres well to maintain competitiveness and consistency.

THE FINALE

Zwartkops serves as the home base for Toyota Gazoo Racing South Africa, Round 7 promises to close the season on a high note. The weekend format will feature three practice sessions and qualifying on Friday, followed by two sprint races on Saturday.
