Chiefs struggle continue as Sundowns climb to the top

If Kaizer Chiefs' current form is anything to go by, Amakhosi will not defend the DStv Diski Challenge title. Only a reckless gambler would bet on them to do so.
Since the season started, their performances have been disappointing. They have consistently displayed below-par shows. After eight matches, they have only gathered 10 points, leaving them nine points behind the log leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns.
On Sunday, Chiefs displayed another disjointed and catastrophic performance against Magesi when they drew 1-1, extending their winless run to six matches. Chiefs last won a game on matchday two when they defeated Stellenbosch FC in September. Since then, they have lost twice and drawn their last four games.
In the match against Magesi, Chiefs scored first with a goal from Leshate Morwasi just before halftime. Dikwena Tsa Meetse equalised in the second half through Koketso Makgai, and the game ended in a 1-1 draw, with both teams earning a point.
Polokwane City 2-1 Orlando Pirates
Orlando Pirates suffered their first defeat of the season in the DDC when they were defeated 2-1 by Polokwane City and subsequently lost the No 1 spot on the log.
Pirates came to the festival at Mafori Mphahlele Stadium in Lebowakgomo as hot favourites against Rise and Shine. Polokwane City were the first to find the back of the net through Monty Bahlabane in the 31st minute with an effort from distance against the run of play.
The Buccaneers fought back and were rewarded in the 68th minute to get back on level terms after Siphiwe Msilela scored from a dead-ball situation.
However, Polokwane got the second goal, which sealed three points for them with three minutes left on the clock, with a lovely free-kick from Khololwethu Simoki.

TS Galaxy 2-3 Mamelodi Sundowns
Mamelodi Sundowns climbed to the top of the DDC table after a hard-fought 3-2 win over TS Galaxy.
Goals from Bennet Mokoena, Siyabonga Mabena and Kabelo Sibande proved to be enough for the 2017 champions to equal Pirates on 19 points and take the top spot with a positive goal difference.
Taye Marks and Nguessan Corneille were on target for the Rockets, but their goals were not enough to get them the desired result.
